Contractors are not all the same.....

This hedge is in Princetown, Dartmoor, it was rebuilt because it had bulged and partially collapsed, in fairness however it had been up for almost 100yrs. It is built of local Granite. Not the easiest to rebuild as it joins into upright gate pillars and the original work (up the slope) has no batter.

This Granite quoin has been built using large stones, mainly because the hedge at this point is very upright and contains large stones already, this enables the new quoin and the old hedge to tie together better than using smaller stone (Stithians, Nr Redruth)

This a low (70cm) hedge built because the owner of the house lost part of their front garden to development

certainly looks much better than a block wall or fence, it will look even better when planted up............

Above and below are of the same spot, one week apart!!

Traditional pitched up hedging stone, slower to build but considered stronger.
